Property Information Websites

Marks out of 10 and a few comments

www.UpMyStreet.com 9/10 Worth a look
www.reallymoving.com 7/10 We liked the instant quote system
www.BuildingSurveysDirect.com

Buy and Sell Websites

www.countryhomesearch.co.uk
www.easier.co.uk 9/10 The first truly "free" site, not owned by an estate agency
www.fish4homes.co.uk 7/10 Part of a group of "Fish4" sites - they appear to have quite a few properties on line, but your search parameters need to be quite wide.
www.findaproperty.com 6/10 A good site for news and features but not many properties to view. Also, estate agent only.
www.freeagents.co.uk 8/10 For under £10 this site supplies environmental reports that look at local factories using dangerous substances, air quality, subsidence, flood risk and pollution incidents.
www.freehomeindex.com 8/10 Not as widely advertised as Easier, but a good estate agent & commission-free buy and sell site.
www.home.co.uk
www.Home2Home.co.uk 7/10 Renamed as 08004homes, user-friendly and good selection of properties, although they are all properties for sale through estate agents.
www.homedirectory.com
www.homemovers.co.uk 5/10 Could not actually get any properties up for sale - they also add a file to your computer and, with viruses so rife, this made us nervous!
www.homepages.co.uk 6/10 Provided by "Money extra" - finance providers - need we go on?
www.homesfile.co.uk
www.homesight.co.uk 8/10 No properties for sale, but a very good information site run by Yell (Yellow Pages) and Equifax.
www.homes-on-line.co.uk 7/10 This site uses exactly the same database as 08004homes, and they cross-advertise eachother
www.housenet.co.uk 6/10 Although they appear to add properties on a regular basis, they don't seem to remove them with such regularity. Unusually, you can contact   the vendor, direct, by phone or e-mail.
www.houseweb.co.uk 5/10 Although everything seems to be there, this site is a little messy.
www.housesearch.uk.com 7/10 Private advertisers are charged £20, which includes images. A fairly good site, although the services section is a little empty at the moment.
www.improverline.com 7/10 This site is run by B&Q and is a clever way for them to sell their products to you. If you bear this in mind it is a very good site, though we would recommend that you use builders by personal referral rather than "partners" who have paid to advertise on the site.
www.numberone4property.co.uk 8/10 We liked this site a lot. Although they charge for advertising, they do virtual tours.
www.propertybroker.co.uk 7/10 No agents - no commission, buy and sell site.
www.propertychain.co.uk
www.propertyfinder.co.uk
www.propertylive.co.uk 6/10 National Association of Estate Agents - need we say more!
www.propertypoint.co.uk
www.propertyshowroom.com 7/10 We liked this site and, although they charge £35 to advertise your property, this is still cheaper than estate agents' commission.
www.propertywindow.com
www.purehomes.com 6/10 At the moment they seem to be a little low on properties for sale and, once they are up and running, we think there will be a lot of advertising - the price you pay for putting your home on for free!
www.rightmove.co.uk 7/10 Owned by the "Big 4" estate agents/lenders.
www.smartstates.com not rated - still under construction
www.ukpropertyshop.com 5/10 Estate agents only, run by the directory of estate agents.
www.ukpg.co.uk 7/10 One of the original property sites - an oldie but goodie.
www.underoneroof.co.uk 8/10 A slightly confusing site - to advertise your property for sale, you have to contact Underoneroof who then send an estate agent round to take your details to add to the site!
www.ziprealty.com 8/10 It's a pity that this is American companies, only. They do 360 degree virtual tours and to advertise is relatively cheap. Although they are agents, they have their act  together.
